Dementia Support
A set of skills for work supporting people with dementia. These units describe the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to provide person-centered care and support to people living with dementia. It involves following an established individualised plan.
This skill set is designed for workers in aged care, disability, community services, and home‑care who need specialised skills to support individuals experiencing dementia. It reflects the competencies required to understand dementia, respond to behavioural changes, and maintain dignity, independence, and wellbeing.
Training.gov.au describes dementia‑related units as focusing on person‑centred care, communication, behaviour support, and safe work practices. Units commonly included in dementia skill sets cover:
-Providing support to people living with dementia (e.g., CHCAGE005, CHCAGE011)
-Developing strategies to address unmet needs
-Responding to behaviours of concern
-Facilitating responsible behaviour (as seen in CHCSS00095 Dementia Support – Service Delivery Skill Set)

Certificate Issuance Policy For all St Adam College short courses, certificates are issued after the student has:
